2009 Locus Award – Premiados

Depois de anunciados os finalistas, foram recentemente nomeados os vencedores:

A obra de Neal Stephenson tem sido uma das mais referenciadas desde o seu lançamento, e talvez por isso a sua nomeação não me espantou. Idem aspas para a categoria Young-Adult Novel, ainda que ao lado de The Graveyard Book estivesse Little Brother.

De entre os nomeados ainda não tive oportunidade de pegar em nenhum, mas City at the End of Time, Anathem, The Dragons of Babel e The Graveyard Book são aqueles que me despertaram maior interesse.

Espantar, espantar, espantou-me Paolo Bacigalupi que conseguiu arrebatar dois prémios, um pela Novela Pump-Six (sobre a qual já tinha falado há alguns meses),  e outra pela colectânea que contém esta mesma novela.

2009 Mythopoeic Award – os finalistas

Os Mythopoeic Award são escolhidos pelos membros da Mythopoeic Society, e seleccionados por um comité da mesma sociedade. Esta possui como objectivo a promoção do estudo, discussão e entusiasmo pela literatura fantástica ou mitológica.

O prémio possui quatro categorias (Adult Literature, Children’s Literature, The Mythopoeic Scholarship Award in Inklings Studies e The Mythopoeic Scholarship Award in Myth and Fantasy Studies).

Entre os vencedores dos anos anteriores encontram-se autores como Peter Beagle, Michael Bishop, Tim Powers, Patricia A. McKillip, Susanna Clarke ou Neil Gaiman.

Os nomeados deste ano foram já anunciados.

Adult Literature

O nome dos vencedores será conhecido na Mythcon XL, a realizar entre os dias 17 e 20 de Julho.

Clarke Award (2009)

O Clarke Award é um prémio inglês atribuído a obras de ficção científica, originalmente estabelecido com fundos de Arthur C. Clarke com o objectivo de promover este género em Inglaterra. O vencedor é escolhido de entre uma pequena lista de seis obras, por uma juri de voluntários entre escritores, críticos ou fans.

Destes seis, um dos mais falados tem sido sem dúvida a obra de Neal Stephenson, Anathem. No entanto, o vencedor foi Song of Time, de Ian R. MacLeod.

PKD – Os vencedores

O prémio Philip K. Dick foi fundado no ano da morte do cérebre autor de Ficção Científica, e desde 2005 apadrinhad pela Sociedade de Ficção Científica da Filadélfia (Philadelphia Science Fiction Society).

Entre os vencedores dos anos anteriores encontram-se The Anubis Gates (Tim Powers), Neuromancer (William Gibson) ou Altered Carbon (Richard Morgan).

Este ano os nomeados foram:

• Emissaries from the Dead – Adam -Troy Castro
• Fast Forward 2
• Judge – Karen Traviss
• Plague War – Jeff Carlson
• Terminal Wind – David Walton
• Time Machines Repaired While-U-Wait – K.A. Bedford

Excepcionalmente, houve dois vencedores, assinalados a bold. Estranhamente, o único do qual me recordo ter ouvido falar antes do prémio, foi o Fast Forward 2.

BSFA Award – os vencedores

Anualmente a Associação Britânica de Ficção Científica (BSFA –  The British Science Fiction Association) premeia algumas obras com base nos votos dos membros da associação e nos membros do Eastercon (convenção britânica de ficção científica).

São quatro as categorias: Best Novel, Best Short Fiction, Best Non-fiction e Best Artwork. No passado este prémios distinguiu livros como Brasyl (Ian McDonald), Air (Geoff Ryman), River of Gods (Ian McDonald) ou The Separation (Christopher Priest).
